On July the 19th and the 20th of this year
The Great Holy Icon of our Russian Orthodox Church –

The Wonderworking Kursk “Root” Icon of Our Lady of “Тhe Sign” («Znameniye»)
will visit the Patriarchal Cathedral of Saint Barbara in Edmonton.

The Wonderworking Kursk Root Icon of Our Lady of the Sign.

This icon appeared to people for the first time in the 13th century in the place of the present male monastery of the Kursk “Root” Hermitage in Russia.

The Holy Icon will arrive to us from Vancouver, BC, where it will visit the Russian Orthodox Church Abroad parishes of the Moscow Patriarchate – Holy Trinity and St. Nicholas.

The schedule of the Devine Services in our Cathedral on those days is as follows:

The 19th of July (Tuesday)
19:00 (7:00 pm) – Meeting of the Holy Icon; Moleben with the Akathist to the Holy Wonderworking Kursk Root Icon of Our Lady of the Sign

The 20 of July (Wednesday)
9:30 am – Meeting of the Holy Icon
9:40 – the Services of the 3rd and the 6th Hours;
10:00 – the Divine Liturgy.
After the Liturgy the Ceremony of the solemn Farewell of the Holy Icon will take place: the shortened Moleben and veneration of the Holy Icon.
