The 10th anniversary of the death of Sergei Lopushinsky

Memory Eternal to diak Sergei Lopushinsky!

Memory Eternal to diak Sergei Lopushinsky!

The sudden tragic death of the church choir director of the Patriarchal Parishes “Orthodox 5” Sergei Lopushinsky (July 14, 1945 – Oct. 5, 2005), as well as president of the parish charity association ten years ago, has left immense pain in our hearts. To this day we feel the pain of parting with him. His whole life was connected with the church, with singing, music and school. Sergei was always cheerful and happy! “Who is merry, let him sing psalms”, says the apostle James in his Epistle (chapter 5, verse 13). He was a great teacher, a talented administrator, and demanding in his relationship with others. Sergei belonged to the group of church singers whom, like his father diak Daniel could justifiably and good reason say about themselves, when before the throne of God, as the psalmist David said “I sing to the Lord, therefore I am” (Psalm 103, verse 33).
I believe that Sergei, just as he sang to God on earth in our churches, now sings with the Angels to our Lord Jesus Christ. His soul dwells with the righteous and his memory will be from generation to generation!
The best gift we can offer him on this day is not only prayer but also the continuation of the work which he began here on earth. While he lived with us, he wished that there be no hostility among us, that our choir sing with one soul, that our churches be kept clean and nice. He also wished for us to keep the Orthodox Faith and help the priests, and to continue the traditions of our grandfathers and great grand-fathers. Let us not disappoint him with our mistakes. Thank you Sergei for all the good which you have done for our parishes! Memory Eternal to you. I and our Patriarch and clergy bow to you! Eternal Glory to you! Amen!
