I have been grieved to learn about the passing away of His Eminence Metropolitan Theodosius (Lazor), your beatific predecessor who headed the Orthodox Church in in America from 1977 to 2002. Please accept my profound and sincere condolences upon the loss that has been suffered by your flock.

The deceased visited the Russian Orthodox Church many times and made a significant contribution to the strengthening of fraternal relations between our two Churches.

May the merciful Lord give repose to the soul of His deceased servant in the mansions of the righteous and make his memory eternal.
