On Sunday, September 16, 2018, parishioners of St. Mary’s Church in Nisku celebrated their Patronal Feast in honor of the Nativity of the Mother of God. On that day Father Igor Kisil, who was priest of that parish for 21 years, served his last Divine Liturgy.
According to the Decree (Ukase) of His Grace, Job, Bishop of Kashira, Administrator of the Patriarchal Parishes in Canada, V. Rev. Igor Kisil, was released from his duties as the priest of Orthodox 9 Parishes and was appointed as the Rector of St. Barbara’s Cathedral in Edmonton.
Also, on that day Archpriest Evheniy Protsenko, who by the Decree (Ukase) of His Grace, Matthew, Bishop of Sourozh, temporary Administrator of the Patriarchal Parishes in Canada, was released from his duties as the rector of Sts. Peter & Paul Russian Orthodox Church in Regina and was appointed as the parish priest of Orthodox 9 Parishes, who concelebrated Divine Liturgy with Father Igor Kisil.
Father deacon John Grigáitis together with the altar boys: Andrei Kisil, Kirill Frankish and Alexander Kisil assisted the clergy during the service.
The Farewell Banquet for Father Igor took place immediately after the church service in the Parish Hall with a following program and the presentation.
Many parishioners and friends of Orthodox 9 parishes turned out to for the emotional send off. A plaque was presented to Father Igor by his parishioners that was followed by a photo op. Reminisces, speeches, hugs, kisses and tears were shared by many that attended.
