His Grace Bishop Matthew of Sourozh headed the celebration of Great Martyr Barbara Cathedral’s patronal feast in Edmonton
On December 17, 2021, on the day of commemoration of Great Martyr Barbara, His Grace Bishop Matthew of Sourozh, temporary Administrator of the Patriarchal Parishes in the USA and Canada, celebrated Divine Liturgy at the Cathedral in honor of Great Martyr Barbara in Edmonton, Alberta.
At the entrance to the church, the Cathedral churchwarden Roman Lopushinsky met the Archpastor with bread and salt.
At the Liturgy, Right Reverend Vladyka was assisted by archpriest Igor Kisil, Dean of the Patriarchal Parishes in the provinces of Alberta and Saskechewan, Rector of the Cathedral , archpriest Mircea Panciuk, Rector of the Romanian Parish in honor of the Mother of God in the Boyin farm locality (Romanian Orthodox Church), priest Alexy Suraev, Rector of the Church of St. George the Victorious in Red Deer, priest Viktor Kramarenko (ROCOR), hieromonk Sergiy (Gusakov), Rector of the Church of St. John of Shanghai and San Francisco in Calgary (ROCOR), protodeacon Jesse Isaac (Orthodox Church in America), deacon Andrei Boldyrev and deacon Stefan Nagy.
At the end of the Liturgy, the Right Reverend Archpastor, together with the clergy, sung glorification in front of the icon and holy relics of Saint Great Martyr Barbara, whose left foot is the main shrine of the church.
Vladyka Matthew congratulated the clergy and parishioners of the Cathedral with the patronal celebration and addressed those present with words of spiritual edification. In response, Father Igor, Rector of the parish, expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to prayfully share the joy of the patronal feast with the Archpastor and thanked Vladyka for his visit.
After the service, Vladyka Matthew talked with the clergy and parishioners of the Cathedral.

At the all-night vigil, His Grace was assisted by archpriest Igor Kisil, Dean of the Patriarchal Parishes in the provinces of Alberta and Saskechewan, Rector of the Cathedral, and deacon Andrei Boldyrev, the cleric of the Cathedral.
At the matins of the all-night vigil, after reading the Gospel, His Grace Vladyka anointed the clergy and parishioners with consecrated oil.

During the Liturgy, Vladyka was assisted by Dean of the Patriarchal Parishes in the provinces of Alberta and Saskechewan, Rector of the Cathedral archpriest Igor Kisil, Rector of the Orthodox V Parish District priest Alexy Suraev, deacon Andrei Boldyrev and deacon Stephen Nagy.
After the prayer behind the ambon, the Right Reverend Archpastor, together with the clergy, sung glorification in front of the ikon of St. Nicholas.
Vladyka Matthew addressed those present with words of a sermon and spiritual edification and gave everyone his archpastoral blessing.
