Bishop Matthew of Sourozh took part in a reception on the occasion of the Great Victory Day at the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Canada, Ottawa

On May 9, 2019, a solemn reception was held at the Russian Embassy in Canada to celebrate the 74th anniversary of the Victory of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945.

At the invitation of the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to Canada A.N. Darchiev, Bishop Matthew of Sourozh, temporarily Administrator of the Patriarchal parishes in the USA and Canada, took part in the celebrations.

The reception was attended by the heads of diplomatic missions of Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, the Vatican, Cyprus, Serbia, representatives of the diplomatic corps, employees of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Canada, delegates from the Roman Catholic Church, as well as numerous compatriots living in Canada.

During the reception, a group of children, students of the Russian Embassy school, presented a concert program. An exhibition of children’s drawings, dedicated to the Great Victory Day, was launched in the halls.
